May Book Haul (+25 books) and Wrap Up + June TBR

Hey guys!

This is my first post of June and it´s only logical for me to bring you guys my Book Haul, Wrap Up and my TBR. It´s going to be a very long post so I am going to start without further ado I am going to start with the post.

Book Haul

So, guys I ought to tell that in May the book buying went completely out of control. In my defence, most of the books that I´ve got were gifts because in May it was my birthday. Just to give a little sample of how things went look to the following picture.

I am going to start talking about the books that I received for review.

Three Words Promised by Ingrid Seymour

I have been mentioning this book for a while now. This is the final book in the trilogy and I have love it. This is the perfect conclusion for the Faris and Marielle´s story. To this one I gave 4.5 out of 5 stars. And in case you are interested on this trilogy here you have my reviews of One WishAway and Two Hearts Asunder and, by clicking on the title of the book you can check my review of this one.

I was given this book by a Spanish publishing Company called BABIDI-BÚ. Unfraternally you can only read this book if you are in Spain. Nevertheless, it was a very fun read. El Reino Olvidado is a middle-grade so enjoyable and I gave it 4 out of 5 stars. I wrote a review, but it´s on Spanish, you can check it by clicking on the title of the book.

And now into the books that I have revived from my friends:

The Vanishing by Sophia Tobin

This book was given to me for my birthday by my friends José Ramón and Álvaro. They know me very well and they know that picking a book for me is kind of hard, so the criteria to pick the book was the shiniest the better, because I am like a child (I am). For what I have gather from the synopsis is a mystery but there is not much detail. I am really looking forward to read this book now that I have more spare time.

Little break in the Book Haul, to mention that both José Ramón and Álvaro now me very well. They know that my love for Harry Potter go beyond everything and they bought me the best cup in the entirely world. Is a Marauders Map Mug. I leave you a picture in here so you can all admire my mug.

And now back into the books that I have been gifted by my friends.

Patria by Fernando Aramburu

This book was given to me by some friends that I have recently made: Tom, Marta Lucía and Jorge. Apparently, they listen to me when I talk because they kill it. About this book tell you that it has been under my radar since Christmas and I was looking forward to read it. I dont know how to classify as fiction or historical fiction. I think it would fit in both categories as it goes through the events after the disarmament of the terrorist band (ETA) in Spain. It is considered to be the book of the year in Spain.

Crave the Mark by Veronica Roth

This author is well known by everyone because of the Divergent trilogy. Personally, I did not enjoyed this trilogy, but I didnt hate it either: I just dont care about it. Truth to be told, I wanted this book because of its beautiful cover (see that as I have said earlier, I am like a child). My godfather is a very nice guy who shares my love for books and he gave it to me. About the plot I have no idea, but I do know that there is some controversy surrounding this book, so as soon as I read it there will be a review from it.

The Narrows by Michael Connelly

This book was given to me by someone really special that does not wish to appear mention in here. However, this thriller was given to me and it´s the kind of book that I like to read during the summer. I will read it then.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

My friend Alicia, who has been on her semester abroad in London brought me this beautiful edition of this book. If you have been here for a while you must know that I have an obsession with collection beautiful editions of the classics. I am looking forward to read it this month, so thank you very much Alicia.

My parents, also know me very well and they bought me these books:

The Wish Granter by C.J. Redwine

I don´t know many about this story besides the fact that it´s a retelling of Rumplestiskin. I know Rumplestiskin is a classic fairy tale and even when I havent read it I am really interested in the character because of Once Upon a Time. Anyway, the cover is so pretty.

The Midnight Star by Marie Lu

If you have been here for a while, you´ll know that I absolutely loved the first two books in the Young Elites trilogy. I am dying to read this book as soon as I have time but, I am afraid of finishing the trilogy. You can check my reviews of The Young Elites and The Rose Society by clicking on the tiles of each book.

The Mistborn Trilogy by Brandon Sanderson

A few months ago, I read the first book in this trilogy and I absolutely love it. You can check my review by clicking here. I have two books more to read but the good thing about, at least the first book, is that the story is closed, so if you dont want to keep reading you dont need to.

Last year before Lady Midnight was published I read this novellas that actually work as their own book. I loved them and I needed a physical copy of the book and so my parents bought it for my birthday.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I know little to nothing about this book except for the fact that everyone who had read it have love it. I know that is a fantasy novel that takes place in London, only that there is 4 Londons.

The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

I am very intrigue by this book ever since I first saw it a year ago. It´s a retelling, and as you can see I am into that mood lately.

Los marineros prudentes leen las olas entre parentesis by Carlos Fernández Salinas

I cannot say a Word about this book because I know nothing about it. My dad went on a trip and when he came back he brought it to me.

And now let´s go into the books that I have bought for myself.

The Thousand Floor by Katherine McGhee

I am not the biggest fan of dystopia as a genre but this book appeals to me: I really don´t know why. Anyway, I found super cheap on Amazon and I bought it.

Wolf by Wolf by Ryan Gradin

I have seen this book recommended on one of my favourites BookTuber channel and I needed. Is a mix between fiction and history. Wolf by Wolf follows the premise of Hitler winning World War II; there is a race that will allow the winner to meet him. The main character wants to win that race so she can try to kill him.

Kindred Spirits: Worlds Book Day Edition by Rainbow Rowell

As it´s said on the title of this book, it´s an especial edition for the World Book Day. It´s a very short story (around 60 pages) in which we follow a girl who is a big Star Wars fan on the 3 days previous to the wold premiere of the latest movie. I have already read this book, and I will talk in further detail on the wrap up part of this post.

Wayfarer by Alexandra Braken

Passenger was one of the very first reviews that I posted on the blog, you can check that one out by clicking here. I loved that book because it was really interesting. It was May, the book was cheap so I decided to purchase the book. As soon as I read it there will be a review for it.

The Mortal Instruments Colouring Book by Cassandra Clare

I´ve been hearing that adult colouring books are so relaxing and only God knows how much I need some relax. I saw this book on Amazon and I absolutely loved the idea of those beloved characters coming to live under my pencils.

Attachments by Rainbow Rowell

I love Rainbow Rowell. She might not be a 5-star author but she writes books that make me really happy. And when I saw this book I bought it.

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I have been hearing about his book ever since it first came out. And I am not going to lie, I have read some mixed reviews for it. Nut recently I read a review on Goodreads saying that if you like the Night Circus you will like this book: I absolutely loved the Night Circus but I will discuss that in further detail on the next part of this post.

The Accidental Empress by Allison Pataki

Ever since I was little I have been fascinated by Sissi. My Grandma bought a book that was as a diary of her and I read it when I was barely 5. And one of my mothers best friend gave me the original movies and a Sissi encyclopaedia. As soon as I lay eyes on this book, I knew and need to have it. Wait for my review, because it will be posted as soon as I read this book.

Uprooted by Naomi Novik

I dont know how it´s on the internationals editions of this book but, on the Spanish edition this book is praised by Patrick Rothfuss, my favourite author of all times, and Cassandra Clare who I love as an author. Do I need any other reason to buy this book?

Also during May, I decided to start reading audiobooks to see if I like those. So, I began to listen The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. And for those who doesnt know this already, this is my favourite book of all times.

Finally, a quick mention to all the books that I purchased on my first visit to the Madrid Book Fair, but I will be doing a separate haul for all the books that I bought on the fair as I am going more than just once.  So I bought Throne of Glass  and A Court of Wings and Ruin both by Sarah J.Maas; The Scent of Almonds and Other Stories by Camilla Lackberg; and Amor entre leyendas by Lourdes Tello

Wrap Up

I am quite happy with my reading month: I read a total of 8 books and 2 short stories.

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

This was a reread for my book club and I have fell in love with this story once more. I wrote a full review that you can find by clicking on the title of the book, but I will say that I did find some issues with the plot this time. I ended up giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgesten

I absolutely love this book. I mean I came to the point in which I was almost considering it might take The Name of the Wind place. I have not write a review but when I reread it I will. I gave it 5 stars and I recommend you all to read this book.

Mansfield Park by Jane Auten

I want to read a classic per month and my mum bought me this pretty edition. I loved Pride and Prejudice and I wanted to read more books by her. I loved this book but I liked a little bit less than that one. And I dont know whether this book was written previously or after Pride and Prejudice but I found some similarities on the plot, mostly at the end so I gave this book 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell

As I said earlier this book is really short so I read it in one sitting. I thought it was really funny. My problem with it was that as I havent seen any of the Star Wars movies so I didnt feel the connection with the main character. But as I have said earlier on this post, Rainbow Rowell´s books always make me happy and this one did as well. I gave this book 4 stars.

El Reino Olvidado- Los Dos Mundos by J.P. Metello

As I have said, I received a copy of this book for review and I highly enjoyed. I am not going into big detail as it cannot be purchased outside Spain. I gave it 4 stars and you can read my review by clicking on its title.

Three Words Promised by Ingrid Seymour

I received this book in exchange of an honest review and I loved it as the other books in the series I found it to be a very good conclusion to the story and I will recommend it to all the people who loves paranormal romance. I gave 4.5 out of 5 stars and in case you want to check my review you can do it by clicking on the title of the book.

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy

It was my second time around reading these stories and I love them as much as the first time. I always enjoy going into the shadow world. Plus, it was something I was feeling to read in preparation for Lord of Shadows.  I wrote a review for this book and you can find it by clicking on the book title.

The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

As I was saying earlier I started this book as an audiobook but I quit the audiobook half way through it. It´s not that I was not enjoying it, because I was; but the fact that I read faster and it was taking me forever to rea a book that other way would have taken 4-5 days. And I know there is a way in which you can make the narrator speak faster but, then I didnt understand what he was saying, so I grab my paper copy of it and read it. Once more I have love this book and a review for this one will be coming to the blog. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

The Penguin Complete Sherlock Holmes

Finally, I picked up this book that have all the Sherlock Holmes stories and I read a couple. I am highly enjoying this book so far.

TBR

I am going to be quite busy this month but nonetheless I wanted to have a TBR. I dont know if I will fulfil it but the intention is there.
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

I will be reading this one as soon as I lay hands on him. I will stop my life until I have read it.  I really need to know how thing continue in this series and I need to know who the hell is dying. As soon as I am done with it be sure that there will be a review for it.

The Cuckoo´s Calling by Robert Galbraith

So, this is the book that I will be reading for my book club this month. I am looking forward to see if I like it. Is the first thing outside of the Harry Potter universe that I am going to be reading. I am interested to know whether I will like her or not. I will tell you at the end of the month.

Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen

As I was saying earlier on this post, my friend Alicia gave this book for my birthday and as I want to read one classic a month is only suitable that I read this one. At the end of June, I will tell you what I think of it.

And that´s all for today.

I will like to know what books have you purchased lately, what have you read and what are you planning to read. So, leave a comment down below so we can discuss it.

See you all next Wednesday!
